There is no real single answer to this question as cat odor can be quite individualized. However, in general, cat urine and feces tend to have a strong, ammonia-like smell, while a cat’s skin generally smells like cinnamon or spice. Some common causes of cat odor include; spraying (especially when the Kitty is stressed), eating inappropriate foods (such as garlic), not using the litter box regularly, having a sick or elderly cat living with them, and having multiple cats in the home.
If you’re noticing an increase in your Cat’s odor, it’s usually a good idea to bring them in for a checkup by one of our OdorXpert veterinarians. In some cases, there may be something wrong physically that is causing the odor; however, more commonly there may simply be some behavioral issues that need to be corrected before the odor will dissipate on its own. Our team is specially trained in dealing with all types of Cat Odors – from urine crystals – so don’t hesitate to give us a call today!
